Member Of The Month

We would like to celebrate one of our own members, Shaun Edwards-Brown with our member of the month award for July.

Please find a small piece below on what he does for us throughout the season.

If you’ve enjoyed the matchday atmosphere at Coastal Spirit lately, you have one of our truly dedicated club legends to thank. For 30 years, Shaun Edwards-Brown has been a vital part of our club's fabric, and today he is a driving force behind our matchday experience. Arriving early to set up the sound system, he ensurse the ground is rocking with great warm-up tunes, delivers the official team announcements, and always make sure our squad gets a little extra musical swagger when they run out. When the whistle blows, he transitions to the commentary booth, bringing the action to screens worldwide on FIFA+ with an unapologetically "one-eyed" supporter’s view that keeps the Coastal faithful thoroughly entertained.

This deep-rooted passion stems from a lifetime of love for the club. Three decades ago, Shaun was on the cusp of breaking into the first team when a series of serious injuries (and a self-confessed lack of real skill) cruelly cut his competitive playing career short. While those playing days ended early, volunteering has offered a wonderful way to still feel like an active, vital part of the squad. For Shaun, Coastal Spirit is the ultimate community club, not just a place to watch football, but a treasured weekend whānau that makes every matchday feel like coming home.

We thank Shaun for his support and service over the years with many more to come.
