The squad and all of the ball kids
The 2026 season was a challenging one for our Men’s Senior team. After reaching the heights of Southern League glory and competing in the National League in 2025, we knew 2026 would be a demanding campaign, especially with much of the 2025 squad moving on.
Throughout 2026, the group worked hard to rebuild, reconnect, and put themselves in a position to challenge for a 2027 National League spot. While the season didn’t unfold exactly as many had hoped, the team showed real character and resilience — securing qualification on Club Day with a crucial 2–1 win over Christchurch United.
With the new Dettol National League structure launching in 2027, the landscape of top‑tier football in Aotearoa is changing significantly. The league will shift to a full 12‑team, double round‑robin national competition, removing regional qualification and creating a true home‑and‑away national league. This means we will be hosting some of the best teams and players in the country right here on the east side of Christchurch, bringing top‑level football closer to our community than ever before.
A massive congratulations to everyone involved — players, staff, volunteers, and supporters. Securing our place in the new‑look 2027 National League is a huge achievement, and we can’t wait to see you all out on the field representing Coastal Spirit FC next season.
