Coastal Spirit women's first team player, Ashleigh Ward, has been named in the 18-player New Zealand U-17 Women's tour of Australia squad. New Zealand will play NSW Institute of Sport (July 11 & 13) and Sydney FC (July 15) in preparation for the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago in September.

Coastal Spirit women's first team forward, Ashleigh Ward, has been named in the 20-player New Zealand U-17 Women's World Cup Qualifiers squad. New Zealand will play Solomon Islands (April 12), Papua New Guinea (April 14) and Tonga (April 16) at North Harbour Stadium, 12-16 April 2010 in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U-17 Women's Championships - with the winner gaining a place in the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago in September.

Wong in 2009 NZ U-17 Squad
Hannah Wong (CSFC Women's first team 35 games, 39 goals) has been named in the New Zealand Under-17 Women's sqaud to play in the National Women's League. The U-17 team will play in the Northern Conference of the League, while Mainland Pride (who Wong will no longer be playing for this season) play in the Southern Conference. The League commences in late October 2009, with national playoffs in December 2009. Hannah Wong scored one goal for NZ U-17 in their first match, a 4-1 win over Waikato-BoP; was a 79th minute sub in a 7-1 loss to Auckland (Victoria Esson was Auckland's goalkeeper); and played the first 85 minutes for NZ U-17 in the 2-3 loss to Auckland; Wong was rested due to "squad rotation policy" for the 0-8 loss to Waikato-BoP. NZ U-17 beat Football South 8-3 in the 5th/6th playoff with Wong scoring 4 goals in that match.

The first ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is being held in New Zealand from 28 October to 16 November 2008. Coastal Spirit FC are represented in the NZ squad by players and on the coaching staff.
QEII Stadium in Christchurch will be hosting 8 matches including both semi-finals.

NZ U-17 Women's tour of Paraguay

Coastal Spirit's Victoria Esson and Megan Shea were in the 21-player NZ U-17 Women's squad that toured Paraguay. Rowena Fulham is the Assistant Coach.
The NZ team finished third in a four-team Tournament in Asunción. Their opponents were the Paraguay U-17 team and the senior club teams Cerro Porteno and UAA. NZ and Paraguay also played each other in an U-17 friendly during the Tournament.
Victoria and Megan were unused substitutes for the match v Cerro Porteno, but both came off the bench in the friendly v Paraguay. Victoria started the final two matches, while Megan appeared as a substitute against UAA.

Coastal Spirit FC has a number of our women's first team squad currently in or in contention for the New Zealand U-17 squad. Megan Shea and Victoria Esson have been named in an initial squad of 25 players.
Victoria Esson, Gabrielle Kerdemelidis and Megan Shea were initially selected in the NZ U-17 squad to tour Australia in April - and Rowena Fulham (first team co-coach is part of the NZ Technical team).
UPDATE 2 April 2008: NZ Football report that Auckland Football's Emily Cooper has replaced Gabrielle Kerdemelidis in the squad for the Australian tour.
